Dear Families,
The Wolves Olympic Torch will be handed over to Christ Church Infant School on Tuesday 18th June by the children from St Edmunds. The torch hand over will take place at Wolverhampton Race Course at a School Leadership Conference where Tanni Grey Thompson will be taking part in the ceremony.
Tanni is a multi -Paralympic wheelchair athlete who has won 11 gold, 4 silver and a bronze Olympic medal from her participation in 5 Olympic games.
This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to see Tanni and to collect the torch on behalf of Christ Church.
We need 6-8 children to be collected from school by their parents and to be taken to Wolverhampton Race Course, arriving by 2.20pm where Mrs Blower will be waiting to meet them. The children and their parents will go into the conference to receive the torch. Parents can watch from the side or back of the room. The ceremony is due to be completed by approx. 2.45pm. Therefore if parents want to take siblings from the infants or juniors at the same time it would be acceptable as we cannot guarantee that you would get back in time for collection.
The children in Year 2 are being invited to take part and will be selected in the order that the completed forms are received. The children should attend in their school PE kit.
Please complete the attached form if you are able to transport your child to and from the event. The children participating must have photo consent.
Children will also be selected to walk with the Torch to Woodthorne the following day.
Please return the form asap. The first eight children will be selected to go to the Race Course and a further group will be selected to go to Woodthorne.
A text will be sent to confirm participation.
Regards
Mrs Blower
